The Winter Soltice

“Hmm…the winter soltice, so that’s what’s up among other things” I said to my son.

“What’s that about Mom?”, he replies.

“Basically it’s 6 months after you were born.  On the day you were born in summer, in the northern hemisphere, it was the day the sun reached its zenith, its greatest in Light.  Our 24 hour day was mostly ‘day’ at that point, with dusk not coming until at least 9:ooPM.  It marked the point in the cycle of ‘darkness’ increasing, as after that, the ‘day’ part started growing less and less and less, until Now, our day is mostly dark.

The Winter Soltice marks the point in the cycle where Light begins increasing for us again.   The birth of the sun, bringing light and warmth and everything every plant and animal needs to live.  When it reaches a certan concentration of light to dark, it will be time to plant seeds and shoots for Spring.  Just as when it waned, it was time to harvest.

It is a Season of Gratitude for making it through the dark nights of winter and the upliftment of Hope as the cycle of Life’s Resurrection begins again.”

Of your christmas stories the one I look forward to reading about the most is the one that my two sons fall under, their sign is the one of Cancer.

Thank you so much Sue Ann, it was something I did not realize I was looking for until now:).

Season’s Greetings {{{tumel!!}} My Christmas tree is finally up! (now that’s it’s almost time to take it down) and we spent last night playing with remote controlled cars chasing the cats around with them. My cat doesn’t like traffic any more than I do.

I’ve got 2 Cancers myself, one daughter and one son, with another staying as a house guest right now. And my own Mother was a Cancer. The riddle of Cancer is the Labor of the Cerynitian Hind (Doe). In short, it is the sublimation or the transmutation of instinct to intuition.

Cancers are very sensitive and the key is to use this sensitivity for awareness instead of toward boohoo-ing.

But Gemini is next. It’ll make more sense if I go around the wheel in order…Smiling.
