I have to admit, the inside-out cat doesn’t do a thing for me, neither does the inside-out dog. But it’s not their fault, it’s simply that they have no fur and that’s why they look inside-out to me. Smiling.

My cat was the personification of everything ‘cat like’ to me. It didn’t like me. Primarily for the same reason my cat now, doesn’t like my daughter.

It’s a joke of a game in my house. Whenever my daughter tries to catch my cat, he makes a beeline for my husband’s lap. It’s ‘base’. So long as he’s on base she can’t mess with him.

My daughter does the same as I did, tries to control the cat. Dress up the cat. Hug the cat. Possess the cat. Restrict its freedom and movement.

And ‘cat’ doesn’t like it.

The cat I used to have never liked me. Now…, every cat seems to want to sit right on top of me. Since Hubby brought home another stray someone had dumped on our property, we now have 4 in the house. And all 4 have to know where I am at all times.

The difference is within me, the relationship I have with myself and the intimacy of it. Cats are, as they have always been. It’s me that changed.

Yes, we’ll get another dog. My daughter would love a dog. But we’ll select the breed carefully, for traits and temperment. I’ll find something with the same sweetness and gentleness as my Samoyeds but, small, that doesn”t shed.

The kind of dog we have, mirrors a lot about our emotional makeup.
